Community Groups

Our Community Groups are a vital part of how we grow together in the faith and build friendships at Victorious Life. We currently offer six home fellowship meetings for worship, study, prayer and fellowship, along with various other community groups that meet specific needs and interests. Please see our calendar page for times and dates or feel free to contact the church office for exact meetings times and places. Below is a list of our current Community Group gatherings:

Castleton Homegroup meets at various times and locations to study the Bible, work on group projects and enjoy fellowship over a pot-luck meal. Contact: Pastor Phil or Debbie Smith.

Downtown Community Group meets for worship & Bible study on the 1st Friday of each month, 7:30 pm, at VLCC. We also meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month 6:00-8:00 pm, for a “service night” at His Table followed by a time of worship. Contact: Pastor Joe & Monica Rice, Jim & Kathy Ault, or Mark & Colleen Rhodes.

Lansingburgh Homegroup All are welcome. We will meet twice a month, alternating between fellowship dinners and discussing the book “Surprise the World”. Stay tuned for dates, times and details. Contact: Pastor Brian or Dena Barker.

Young Families Homegroup has meetings and events that are scheduled to accommodate the needs of young children. All are welcome to be an active part of our group. We will be doing various lessons for adults & for the children. At the end of our meetings, we have a short time of snacks and fellowship. Meeting dates and times to be announced. Victorious Life Café, Friday, November 18th, 7:30-9:30 pm: Join us as we envision Victorious Life’s direction for the future. This community visioning session will be conducted in a World Café format, allowing people to voice their ideas & hopes for our congregation. This is an excellent opportunity for people across generations to provide meaningful insights & suggestions especially as we undertake building renovations in the near future Contact: Pastor Brian or Dena Barker.

Forever Faithful Youthgroup (FFY) is for youth ages 13 & up, and holds Bible studies, activities & occasional events. FFY meets on the 2nd Friday of each month & again on the last Friday, at 7:30 pm, as part of the Community Night gathering. Contact: Pastor Joe & Monica Rice.

Celebrate Recovery (CR) is for anyone who has a hurt, hang-up or habit which blocks them from living a fully surrendered life in Christ. It is also for those who wish to help heal the broken. CR also offers step groups, which are gender-specific accountability groups (see Jenn to find out when step groups are meeting & when the next open enrollment period is). CR meets weekly on Thursday nights 6:30-8:30, at VLCC. Contact: Jennifer Wilks or Pastor Brian Barker.

Cru: Ministry to college students whose purpose is to help fulfill the Great Commission in the power of the Holy Spirit by winning people to faith in Jesus Christ, building them in their faith, and sending them to win, build, and send others. Meets on Fridays at 7:00 PM in Ricketts Hall on the RPI Campus. Contact: Tim Stockwell.

InterVarsity at Russell Sage College holds weekly meetings on the Sage campus & some joint activities with the RPI chapter. Contact: Niki Campbell.

Rensselaer Christian Association (InterVarsity at RPI) holds weekly meetings on campus on Friday evenings, a variety of small groups & daily prayer meetings during the week. Contact: RCA or go to http://rca.union.rpi.edu.

Men’s Breakfasts are usually held the first Saturday of each month, 8:30-9:30 am. Come start your day with some encouragement and fellowship. Contact: Kyle Kreigbaum.

New Testament Greek Study Group meets to review Greek lessons studied independently at home and work on grammar, vocabulary & translation. We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month, 6:00-9:00 pm, at the church. Contact: Pastor Bill Gilday.

Prayer for the City of Troy is a group of City government staff, pastors, local business people, and local citizens who pray for City concerns every Thursday morning 8:00 – 8:30 in Troy City Hall, (Hedley Building, 433 River Street, 5th Floor). Contact: Contact: Pastor Brian Barker

Women of Valor (WOV) has confidential groups for ladies who need assistance due to present/prior domestic violence, sexual assault, rape and/or trafficking. Ladies in need of assistance and/or interested in attending a group should contact us. We meet twice a month. Contact: wov@vlcctroy.org or by phone (518) 526-5874.

Young Women of Valor (YWOV) is an outreach to girls 5-17 years of age. We have Bible studies, teaching of options/choices, life skills, mentoring, help with peer pressure, living a Christian life, etc. Girls are fed dinner and are assisted with help with any needs we can provide. We have 3 special celebrations every year [Christmas, Easter, Annual Ministry Birthday]. YWOV meets every Tuesday 6:30 -8:30 pm, at VLCC. Contact: Lillian Morin.
